As water use increased during droughts scientists are discovering that land is actually rising due to the removed weight  This is similar to what happens when glaciers disappear.

This is counter intuitive to the though that if water is removed the land would sink to fill the void of the removed water.

Some new research coming out of Microsoft is able to smooth and fill in first person point of view video as a time-lapse.  The results are compelling.
