China’s planning to build the world’s largest particle collider

LHCTunnel_web_1024China has announced that it will begin construction of the world’s largest particle collider in 2020. According to officials, the subterranean facility will be at least twice the size of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Switzerland, and will endeavour to find out more about the mysterious Higgs boson.

Scientists develop super-black material that absorbs 99.96 percent of surface light

A newly produced material is believed to be the “blackest” ever created. Vantablack is a pure carbon coating and absorbs 99.96 percent of incident radiation (solar energy as it hits the material’s surface). Manufacturer Surrey NanoSystems believes that is the highest such figure ever recorded.
